Contemporary American composers are the living legacy of our nation's musical heritage.
Of Thee I Sing is dedicated to the musical legacy of our nation, and the support of living American composers is a cornerstone of the company mission.
This support is shown by featuring and commissioning arrangements and new songs by living American composers on concert programs and inviting these composers to actively partake in performance events, as well as this exciting new interview series.
The Living Legacy Series is an exciting new interview series that features these living composers and their settings of text by American writers and poets.
The series takes place on the Of Thee I Sing Facebook page on the fourth Sunday of the month at 4pm Central Time. The recorded episodes will be available for additional viewing here on this page, and in the meantime, the premiere event can be viewed here.
Each installment features a different composer, who will share his or her journey and passion for composing, especially song composition.
One song is performed per installment that will serve as the focal point.
The episodes are shown as Watch Party Events on Facebook. Although the interviews are pre-recorded, the featured composer and I will be available to respond to questions and comments in real time via the chat feature, and anyone can watch the episodes after the event without a Facebook account being required.
Updates and details on future episodes will be posted on this page, but to make sure not to miss key information, please subscribe to the company mailing list.
