Contemporary American composers are the living legacy of our nation's musical heritage.
Of Thee I Sing is dedicated to the musical legacy of our nation, and the support of living American composers is a cornerstone of the company mission.
We fulfill this mission by incorporating arrangements and new songs by living American composers into concert programs, commissioning new compositional works, and presenting the monthly online program The Living Legacy Series.
The Living Legacy Series is an exciting new interview series that features these living composers and their settings of text by American writers and poets.
The series takes place on the on the last Sunday of each month at 4pm Central Time. Each episode features a different composer and one of their song settings of an American text, which celebrates our nation's treasury of literature as well.
The episodes air as Premiere Events on both Facebook and YouTube. The interviews are pre-recorded, allowing the featured composer to be present virtually to respond to questions and comments in real time via the chat feature, and anyone can watch the episodes both during and after each event.
